Paul McCartney helped put Jill’s life in to focus

WHEN Jill Furmanovsky arrived in mid-1960s’ Britain it was a culture shock to say the least.

At 11 years old, she had left sunny Rhodesia (present-day Zimbabwe) with her family for a new life in a soggy and smoky London.

But Jill’s life was improved immeasurably thanks to The Beatles and, more specifically, Paul McCartney.

For it was outside the Fab Four member’s house that she snapped her first rock shot, on a Kodak Instamatic.
