Carl follows in mother’s footsteps at care home

CARL Richmond is not religious.

But the faith he knows most about is Judaism — despite not being Jewish himself.

It is because, for most of his life, Carl has been involved with Brookvale care home, in Simister, north Manchester.

Today he is its chief executive and he has followed in the footsteps of his mum, Lynne, who served as its executive director for many years.

Making it a real family affair is his brother, Gareth, Brookvale’s qualities assurances manager.

Lynne converted to Judaism through Manchester Reform Synagogue around 30 years ago.

“My girls, even though we are not Jewish, know all the berachot because we would spent Friday nights at mum’s house,” Carl told the Jewish Telegraph.

“Judaism is a part of our lives, despite Gareth and me not being Jewish ourselves.”
