HANK Idsinga has spent his career confronting death, but the story that shaped him most began long before he ever wore a police badge.
A former homicide detective and eventual commander of the Toronto Police Service’s homicide unit, he built a career on piecing together the final
moments of others.
And, in his book, The High Road - Confessions of a Homicide Cop (Simon & Schuster), he turns
that same investigative instinct towards a man he never met: his maternal grandfather, German-born Arthur Jacobs.
