GAIL SMITH of Leeds is searching for descendants of her great-grandparents
Phillip and Ada Tynes who are buried in the Etz Chaim Synagogue
cemetery in New Farnley, Leeds.
Their Hebrew names were Fishel and Ita Risha, and they were also
known by the surname Tarnish, Tannis or Tannison. In the same cemetery
is their daughter Rose (b 1887) whose married name was Freeman (Freedman),
and their son Joe (b 1889) who used the surname Tennyson, and his
wife Millie.
Their son Abraham (b 1891), known as Alfred, also used the name
Tennyson. Their other children were Israel (1884), Solomon (1890),
Samuel (1894), Annie (1896), Harris (1899), Hyman (1901), Rachel
(1903) and Gail's grandmother Sarah (1907) who was known as Florence
and married George Walsh. Sarah died in 1973.

Aliza Caspi of Israel is searching for her younger sister,
Clara, whom she hasn't seen since 1942 when the family was leaving
Lvov for Warsaw.
Her sister is thought to have married and had children. Their
parents were Fania and Yuliush Shtrudler. Fania's maiden name was
Birger. Clara spoke Polish, Russian and some Yiddish and English.

JUDITH ELAM of America wants to know how her Mendzigursky family
is related to the Bookbinders and Bowmans of Cheetham Hill, Manchester.
She believes that the parents of the Bookbinder siblings (Nat,
Frank, Percy, Stan, Rebecca, Bluma and Yetta Segal) were Hyman (Chaim)
and his wife, either Sarah or Sadie Mendzigursky.
Frank had a bakery, while Nat was the bandleader. Yetta lived
at 343 Cheetham Hill Road, and Frank Bowman lived at 164 Cheetham
Hill Road.
Judith's grandfather was Peisech Mendzigursky, her mother was
Feige (Fay), and her aunt was Margo (Nookie) Mendzigursky Freedman.
They lived with these people when they arrived as refugees in August
1939 from Leipzig. Leiser Chiel Mendzigursky and his children also
lived with them.

Leslie's grandfather, Mark Kaufman, emigrated to Australia from
Manchester in 1911. He had eight siblings, including a brother named
Joseph, who had a son named Isaac, born in 1910 and died in February
1986.
