It's all relative

JUDITH ELAM of America wants to know how her Mendzigursky family is related to the Bookbinders and Bowmans of Cheetham Hill, Manchester.

She believes that the parents of the Bookbinder siblings (Nat, Frank, Percy, Stan, Rebecca, Bluma and Yetta Segal) were Hyman (Chaim) and his wife, either Sarah or Sadie Mendzigursky.

Frank had a bakery, while Nat was the bandleader. Yetta lived at 343 Cheetham Hill Road, and Frank Bowman lived at 164 Cheetham Hill Road.

Judith's grandfather was Peisech Mendzigursky, her mother was Feige (Fay), and her aunt was Margo (Nookie) Mendzigursky Freedman. They lived with these people when they arrived as refugees in August 1939 from Leipzig. Leiser Chiel Mendzigursky and his children also lived with them.
