JON TAYLOR of Indianapolis is trying to locate his great-grandfather Joseph Arrowsmith’s grave in Manchester.

He explains: ‘‘Some years ago after my aunt died and her effects were being dealt with, my wife briefly saw a death or burial certificate for Joseph on which was the name of a Manchester Jewish cemetery.

‘‘She vaguely remembers ‘Salford’ but cannot be sure. My mother promptly removed the certificate and it has not been seen since!’’

Joseph’s mother’s maiden name was Martha Cash. He was born in Runcorn in 1868 and married Martha Harris in Warrington in 1894.

He had one daughter, Gertrude, and a son, Joseph. He or his son owned a family bakery called Arrowsmiths in Warrington.
