MARIA Dean of Gosport has been searching fruitlessly for information on her mother’s family.
‘‘I am told that their family name was Olinitsky,’’ Maria writes. ‘‘There were two brothers Hymie (died 1999) and Moshe (died 1998) and two sisters Sophia (Simmy) and Jane (died 1956).’’ Jane, whose married name was Croft, was Maria’s grandmother. Sophia, Hymie and Moshe lived in Salford. The last known address Helene has is 14 Templar Street, Leeds. Leah died aged 83 in l947 while Philip died in 1933, aged 75. They are buried in the United Hebrew Congregation Cemetery at Gildersome. They had 15 or l6 children, the last of whom was Morris David Brosgall, who was born on September 19, 1901. Morris — Helene’s father — became known as David Garth.
