'Wear' are descendants of Moses

PAT DEVENPORT of Tyne and Wear is trying to trace the descendants of Moses Nessis and Bertha Lustgarten who emigrated to Manchester from Romania around 1890.

''As far as I am aware they had two sons, Samuel and Joseph, my grandfather, and six daughters, Alice, Bella, Rachel, Dorothy, Stella and Nettie,'' Pat says.

''I have traced and met descendants of Samuel in America and Alice in London.

''Stella, who moved to America, did not have children.''

Pat now wants to find the rest of the family. Bella married Michael Lobel in 1908 in Manchester. It is believed she had a granddaughter born about 1947.

Dorothy married Edward Farmer in 1921 in Manchester.

Pat knows nothing about Rachel or Nettie.

Alice married her first cousin Joseph Oswald Lustgarten.

''Family tradition states that we are related to the late Edgar Lustgarten, broadcaster and crime novelist, and the late Bernard Langton, mayor of Manchester,'' Pat adds.
