KING David High School governors' chairman Joshua Rowe kept his promise to former KD Yavneh Boys' pupil Alex Dover.
Joshua flew to Australia - for three days - to see Alex marry Kayla Fleischer.
He said: "I thought I would be the only one present from Manchester, but quite a number were there, but they made it into more of a holiday.
"Alex was one of our star pupils and his father Jonathan is vice-chairman of governors at the high school."
Alex met Kayla in Sydney in August, 2014, while working as a Bnei Akiva shaliach at Moriah War Memorial College, a modern Orthodox Jewish school.
He emigrated to Israel in January last year and works at a foreign exchange company in Jerusalem, where the couple have settled.
Alex is the son of Lynne and Jonathan Dover, of Salford, while Kayla is the daughter of Shelley and Joel Fleischer, of Sydney.
The couple were married at the Spit West Reserve Pearl Bay, in Mosman, Sydney, by Rabbi Shua Solomon, of the Bondi Mizrachi Synagogue.
Joining in the celebrations were the bride's siblings, Sean, Daniel and Lexi Fleischer, and the groom's brothers, Rafi, Joshua and Abi Dover.
Also present were the bride's grandparents, Shirley and Hymie Fleischer and Joan Horwitz and Alex Horwitz, all of Sydney.
The groom's grandparents, Marlene and Oskar Dover, of Liverpool, and Vivienne Goldwater, of Salford, were unable to attend.
There were also guests present from Canada and South Africa.
