Shalom Silverstone decided to do something for others to mark his barmitzvah — and raised around £1,000.
Shalom and his dad, Shui Silverstone, organised a football tournament for fathers and sons at Manchester Maccabi the day after his barmitzvah at North Salford Synagogue, Vine Street.
The proceeds will go to Israeli charity Yad Eliezer.
Manchester United fan Shalom, a pupil at Manchester Mesivta, is the son of Estee and Eli Pine, and Shui Silverstone, all of Broughton Park.
Joining in the celebrations were Shalom’s sister, Keli Silverstone, stepbrothers Sammy, Joey and Danny Pine, and stepsister Rachel Pine.
Also present were his grandparents, Alex and Michael Silverstone, of Broughton Park, and Rivka and Shmuel Stern, of New York, as well as his step-grandparents Malka and Shimmy Pine, of Israel.
