SIMCHAS   28/5/10

Sport Vale

SPORTY Daniel Vale was barmitzvah at Sinai Synagogue on Shabbat.

The son of Tracy and Barry Vale, of Alwoodley, Daniel attends The Grammar School at Leeds.

Daniel's main passion is football. He is a striker for Leeds Maccabi and he is also a keen golfer.

Grandparents Pat and Ken Smeek joined visitors from Manchester, London and Northampton at the simcha.

Daniel has an elder brother Nick, 16, who attends Allerton High School.

Barmitzvah hard to beat

ACE drummer Matthew Ross celebrated his barmitzvah at Giffnock Synagogue.

Former Calderwood Lodge pupil Matthew, the son of Lesley and Jonathan Ross, is now at Mearns Castle High School.

As well as drumming, he enjoys football, badminton and computing and is a member of Maccabi.

Present at the simcha were his brothers and sisters, grandparents Lily and Rufus Ross, family and friends.

Matthew's brother Marc just made it in time from Brussels, in between ash disruption, but close family members from Israel weren't so lucky and missed the simcha.
